Best friends Ona and Saule work as chefs in a small canteen, Tasty. Always going out of their way to please their customers, one day Saule signs them up for a televised cooking contest, and they miraculously get in.

Turning up to the show, the unlikely pair are the clear underdogs, struggling to compete with their idol — chef Madame Brukne — and they are not sure how to handle even the simpler requests, like cooking ‘operatives’ (aperitifs).

Despite this, their simple but pitch-perfect dishes get them noticed, and they successfully make it through the first rounds — that is, until Ona falls for the charismatic French judge, Emanuel.
